I was born in Dortmund and - after studying in the Palatinate region, various sojourns in Spain, and a brief stay in Cologne – am again at home in the lovely Ruhr District of Germany.

After taking my school-leaving exams (Abitur) I trained as a state-certified foreign language correspondent in English and Spanish in Dortmund from 1984 to 1986.

After that, I spent a year (1986 – 1987) as an au pair in Spain.

From 1987 to 1993 I studied English and Spanish at the renowned School of Applied Linguistics and Cultural Studies (FASK) Germersheim, a department of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. I graduated as a certified translator with “magna cum lauda” and an “A” in law, my minor subject.
My studies were rounded off by a semester abroad at the Universidad de Oviedo in the North of Spain from October 1991 to March 1992, based on an Erasmus scholarship.

Since 1993, I have been working as a freelance translator for publishing houses, legal authorities, law practices, enterprises, translation agencies and private clients.

I was granted my official authorisation for translating Spanish and English texts by the Higher Regional Court Hamm in 1995; this was extended in 2010.
